ENGL 501: The Structure of Modern English

This course provides an advanced study of the modern English language focusing on grammar and style. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to explain principles of English grammar and syntax and use them effectively; appraise diversity in language use and dialect across geographic regions; and interpret nonfiction texts through morphological, syntactic, and grammatical analysis.

Term: This is a Fall I course. Participants may register for one Full Semester course OR one course each in Fall I and Fall II.
