ENGL 534 Contemporary Literature and Culture

This course examines literary texts and literary movements in their cultural and historical contexts. Special emphasis is given to ethnic, cultural, and gender diversity, and required readings include a variety of works by authors of color. Particular attention will be paid to postmodernism and 21st-century writers’ responses to its texts and ideas.
